Short Term Disability
Employee Short-Term Disability Plans
Short-term disability insurance provides income replacement for any employee who is temporarily unable to work due to an illness, injury, or pregnancy. This injury or illness does not need to happen while on the job. Most plans will cover a portion of an employee’s salary for a pre-determined period of time while you, the employer, pay a percentage of the employee’s salary. Like other voluntary benefits, offering short-term disability plans is a great way to recruit and maintain quality employees while providing them with a sense of security.
Benefits of Short-Term Disabitlity Plans
“Carrie has handled our company’s health insurance for the last several years. She proactively searches for new plans and companies each year, reviews our options with us and makes sure we are where we need to be. Our employees appreciate her willingness to meet and go over plans and options as well. We couldn’t be happier with how our coverage is handled.”

Are There Different Kinds of Disability Coverage?
Yes! The two many kinds of short-term disability coverage are traditional and contributory. Traditional plans are those that have the employee pay the full premium. While contributory plans are both employer and employee funded. Offering a contributory plan will be more appealing to both current and future employees, but still offering traditional plans is worthy of consideration.
